Cru2 The Leeds Shutdown 2025 – Full Event Production in Leeds

In August 2025, Audioserv provided full event production for Cru2 – The Leeds Shutdown, held at North Brewing's Springwell brewery in Leeds.

Featuring some of the biggest names in Bassline music, the outdoor event needed a production setup capable of delivering powerful sound, impressive visuals and an unforgettable atmosphere for a sell-out crowd.

Our team designed and supplied the complete production, including Funktion-One sound systems, staging and truss structures, LED video walls, professional event lighting and pyrotechnic effects.

Designing the Stage and Production Structure

One of the biggest challenges was designing a production structure that worked within the brewery's unusual outdoor space.

We designed a custom truss structure that framed the site's iconic brewery silo, incorporating the lighting, video walls and DJ booth into one cohesive stage design.

The DJ booth featured a specially designed transparent roof suspended on steel cables. This provided protection for the performers without obstructing the audience's view of the lighting and video walls.

The result was a practical and visually striking structure that made excellent use of the available space.

Funktion-One Sound System for the Outdoor Event

The Springwell site is long and relatively narrow, presenting some interesting challenges when designing the sound system.

With a sell-out crowd expected, we needed to deliver consistent audio coverage from the main stage right through to the back of the audience area.

We chose a Funktion-One Vero VX PA system for the main stage, supported by two additional delay positions using Funktion-One Evo 7T loudspeakers.

Each delay position incorporated subwoofers in a cardioid ground-stacked configuration, helping us maintain controlled bass coverage while reducing unwanted sound travelling beyond the event site.

The first delay position used flown mid-high loudspeakers suspended from a truss goalpost, while the second provided additional coverage towards the rear of the venue.

This approach allowed us to distribute sound more evenly throughout the site without relying solely on excessive volume from the main PA.

LED Video Wall Hire and Visual Production

Visual production was another major part of the event.

We supplied five sections of IP-rated LED video wall, designed to complement the stage structure and provide impressive visuals throughout the show.

Four vertical video wall sections, each measuring one metre wide by four metres high, were flown from the truss structure.

A further LED wall section measuring 1m x 2.5m was positioned in front of the DJ booth.

Our video engineer was able to mix and display different content across all five sections, creating dynamic visual effects that complemented the performances.

The outdoor-rated LED panels were particularly well suited to the environment, providing bright and clear visuals throughout the event.

Professional Event Lighting

With an outdoor event running from daylight into the evening, the lighting needed to work across changing conditions.

Our lighting design incorporated a range of professional fixtures, including:

• BeamZ Pro Nuke3 moving LED panels
• BeamZ Pro LCB400 LED batons
• BeamZ Pro SB220 blinders
• Chauvet Colorado Solo 1 Zoom fixtures
• ADJ Jolt FX panels
• ADJ Q6 Mirage uplighters

The combination of moving effects, strobes, blinders and architectural lighting allowed our lighting engineer to create a varied show throughout the event.

As darkness fell, the brewery's iconic silo became an important visual feature, illuminated using the ADJ Q6 Mirage uplighters.

The combination of lighting and video transformed the industrial surroundings into an impressive outdoor event space.

Pyrotechnics and Special Effects

The client also wanted to incorporate pyrotechnic effects to give the event an extra impact.

We arranged a selection of effects, including timed flame systems, spark effects and flash-and-bang effects.

These were coordinated with the show to create memorable moments for the audience, particularly once the evening performances were underway.

Combined with the video walls, lighting and Funktion-One sound system, the effects helped create an exciting atmosphere throughout the venue.
